Friends of HPL: Advocates and Supporters

The Friends of Hedberg Public Library are people just like you who appreciate the library and the many ways it serves our community. As library advocates, the Friends support the organization’s mission of helping the library provide an extra level of services not possible through the normal operating budget. Proceeds from their efforts have supported projects to enhance the library and expand the awareness of library programs and services.

For example, in 2024, The Friends of HPL:

  • Purchased a banner advertising The Ground Floor to hang at Janesville’s Rockport Pool.
  • Held two Culver's fundraisers and two Mac's Pizza Shack fundraisers.
  • Held four successful Used Book Sales (mark your calendar for upcoming dates!).
  • Sponsored a Jigsaw Puzzle Competition at HPL Express, including purchasing 22 puzzles and prizes for participants.
  • Held a volunteer appreciation reception in April for HPL volunteers; presenting President's Volunteer Service Awards.
  • Participated in HPL’s Teacher Open House in September, giving away books and offering discounted Friends of HPL memberships.
  • Friends of HPL board members attended local Friends' Consortiums.
  • Held a reception to welcome the new HPL Director, Eric Robinson.
  • Administered the annual spring HPL Tulip Sale.
  • Sponsored third annual HPL Book Fest and the Keynote Speaker reception. HPL Book Fest 2025 is scheduled for Saturday, June 21.
  • Erected a Giving Tree at the library to accept donations of items for the Children's Department, HPL Express, and administration at HPL.
  • Sponsored the 2024 Summer Library Challenge.
  • Sponsored the Seed Library.
  • Sponsored the new Experience Passes available through HPL’s Library of Things
  • Purchased items for the HPL Bookmobile
  • Purchased Book Club books.

Become a Friend of HPL and meet other people who value the library as an important community resource!
