Hedberg Public Library is pleased to announce Ann Garvin, Ph.D., USA Today bestselling author, will serve as the keynote author at HPL Book Fest 2024 on Saturday, June 22. Garvin is the author of five novels and currently teaches creative writing at Drexel University. Previously, she worked as an RN and, after receiving her Ph.D., taught Exercise Physiology, Sport Psychology Nutrition, Stress Management, and Global Health for 30 years in the University of Wisconsin system. Garvin has also held positions at Miami University and Southern New Hampshire in their Master of Fine Arts Creative Writing programs.
HPL Book Fest is in its third year and previously featured Wisconsin Poet Laureate, Dasha Kelly Hamilton in 2022, and New York Times best-selling Humorist, Michael Perry in 2023.
The day-long celebration of local writers and books will include craft-focused writing workshops and an author fair during which local writers will be able to promote, sign, and sell copies of their works. An author reception featuring Garvin will follow.
The HPL Book Fest 2024 committee is currently accepting proposals for writing workshops. Submit your session idea now through February 2. Applications to participate in the Author Fair are being accepted now through March 1.
