December exhibits at Hedberg Public Library include acrylics on canvas and watercolor paper, as well as an extensive collection of Nativity sets from around the world.
Woody May is a storyteller who uses vibrant colors of acrylic paints to tell the stories of "history, transformation, beauty, and purpose." It is easy to feel yourself becoming immersed in the story of each painting as you notice all the details that included. Whether it is one of Woody's paintings that feature nostalgic cartoon characters or vintage cars, not only will you hear the story that Woody is telling, but you will also remember your own stories about the themes. View Woody's Meet the Artist interview.
Ron Shuler has spent a lifetime collecting Nativity sets from around the world. Many of them are handmade by local artists, making each unique one-of-a-kind. Ron started collecting Nativity sets as a young boy, and his passion for them has continued through his life.
Art is available for viewing during regular library hours and can be found throughout the building. Viewers are encouraged to leave written comments for the artists in the binder located in the Fireplace Room.
Thank you to Woody and Ron for displaying their art at HPL this month. Special thanks to Teresa Nguyen and JATV Media Services for the interviews that let us learn more about each of the artists and their inspirations.
