AUDIENCE AND PURPOSE
The target audience of the Hedberg Public Library (HPL) website is library users.
The purpose of the website is to:
- Provide information to the public, including
- a. promotion of library services and events
- b. access to the library catalogs for adults and children
- c. general library information, such as hours, fines, how to get a card, etc.
- d. librarian-selected sites
- e. access to the library’s subscription databases
- f. original content that relates to the library’s mission or local history, such as book lists or the local history database
- g. links to selected government sites and sites of local interest
- Offer interaction with HPL through such services as “E-mail a Librarian”
- Make available library services even when the facility is closed
WEB TEAM
The Web Team, under the guidance of the library director will manage, evaluate, and update the website as needed under the provisions of the purposes stated above.
WEBSITE CONTENT
Links included within the HPL site are limited to content that meets the library’s stated purposes above and may allow a user to leave the site. Linked sites are not under the control of HPL, and HPL is not responsible for the content or accuracy of the information on those sites. Internet
resources may change or disappear at any time, and HPL cannot be responsible for these
factors outside its control. Staff will maintain links on a regular basis and remove any links that no longer direct to the stated content or do not resolve to the stated site.
HPL is providing these links only as a convenience, and the inclusion of
any link does not imply endorsement by HPL. The HPL website is not intended to broker information and is not to be used for commercial purposes except for library fund-raising activities.
The HPL website is not intended to be comprehensive of all available resources, nor is
it intended to provide or replace information available at other private, commercial, local, state, or federal government sites.
HPL cannot protect users from information and images that they might find offensive or disturbing. It is each user’s responsibility to exercise critical judgment in evaluating the validity of information accessed via the internet through this website. HPL advises parents to monitor and supervise their children’s internet use and to talk with their children about internet safety issues in relation to family values and boundaries.
