September's exhibits include a variety of media such as graphite and charcoal drawings, watercolors, acrylics, and hand-knit clothing. All three artists bring joy with each of their pieces.
Art is available for viewing during regular library hours and can be found throughout the library. Viewers are encouraged to leave written comments for the artists in the binder located in the Fireplace Room.
Thank you to Shannon Murphy-Tollefsrud, Bo Maveety, and Carol Herzig for displaying their artwork at HPL. Special thanks to Teresa Nguyen and JATV Media Services for the engaging interviews that highlight our artists' wonderful work.

HAND-KNIT CLOTHING AND OTHER ITEMS by Shannon Murphy-Tollefsrud (360 Display Case)
Shannon comes from a long line of creative women who bake, cook, painter, sew, crochet, embroider, weave baskets, and knit. She has been working on crocheting since she was in grade school and learned to knit 20 years ago. Shannon has not only used her skill to create gifts for others but also many items for her own wardrobe. She encourages everyone to try out any craft or artform they are interested in. Learn more about Shannon and her art on JATV's Meet the Artist.
GRAPHITE AND CHARCOAL DRAWINGS by Bo Maveety (Fireplace Room)
Bo's love of drawing started at a young age while he sat at the feet of his mother as she did her oil paintings. His early drawings were of superheroes and comic book characters, and he considers himself lucky to meet comic strip artist Milton Caniff in Dallas, TX. Bo had drawn a Green Beret combat scene to give to Mr. Caniff who then sent Bo a letter of encouragement. As Bo says, "...that was like gold to me. There’s nothing like a little positive reinforcement, no matter how old an artist is." Watch Bo's Meet the Artist.
ACRYLICS ON CANVAS AND WATERCOLOR ON PAPER by Carol Herzig (River Wall)
Carol has been drawing and creating for as long as she can remember. She would use whatever surface and writing instrument she could find, even getting into trouble sometimes for drawing on inappropriate surfaces. Her love of art and creating to express herself continued to develop throughout her life. Carol finds creating with her hands very relaxing. Learn more in Carol's Meet the Artist interview.
