Get Healthy at Hedberg: Explore HPGs@HPL

Hedberg Public Library is introducing a new Healthy at Hedberg initiative, highlighting the ways your library promotes and supports wellness. Look for programs, displays, and resources through the year that focus on the many elements of health - body, mind, and spirit!

As part of that initiative, we are excited to announce a new partnership with the Janesville Community Center, Nutrition Collaborative of Rock County, Leadership Development Academy, Janesville School District’s Choice Program, and Community Action: Fresh Start.

The Janesville Community (JCC) recently received a Green Our Plant HydroConnect Grant which includes a large commercial Hydroponic Garden (HPG), 20 small HPGs, and access to an extensive curriculum about the gardens. Hedberg Public Library is hosting 3 small HPG’s in 2024, which will be planted, maintained, and harvested by students from the Choice Program. The food grown will be donated and used by local non-profit organizations.

On Tuesday, February 27, at 5 p.m. the library will welcome the Nutrition Collaborative of Rock County to host an after school program to learn about plants, hydroponic gardening and healthy food choices! Starting March 1, HPL will also have two HPGs available for check out in our Library of Things, which will include instructions on how to use them. It's a perfect tool for homeschooling - or for anyone interested in hydroponic gardening.

Stop in to see what's growing at Hedberg!
