Are you a fan of The Moth, Snap Judgement, or Story Collider?  Do you have personal stories to share, but aren't sure where to tell them?  Are you a performer with a competitive streak?  This workshop for teens and adults will introduce you to the world of story slams and help you prepare your first (or next!) slam story.  You'll learn what story slams are, where to find them, and how to craft a five minute personal story you could take to a slam.  You can bring an idea for a personal story you'd like to work on, or find inspiration during the workshop.  You'll get a chance to showcase the story you craft during the workshop at a library story slam in the coming weeks.
Registration is required and space is limited.  Register online, at the library or call 608-758-6585.
This program will be presented by Sarah Beth Nelson.  Sarah Beth directs the Library Media program at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  In addition to training future librarians, she researches the American reality (true, personal, edgy) storytelling movement.  Sarah Beth performs in fringes, festivals, and open mic and slap events, such as The Moth (in various cities), Atlanta's Carapace, and Milwaukee's Ex Fabula.
