COVID-19 Response
The health and safety of our patrons and employees is a priority to the City of Janesville and Hedberg Public Library (HPL). We are working to stay on top of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to follow the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control, WI Department of Health Services, Rock County Health Department and the City of Janesville.
Our plan is to:
1) Prioritize the safety and health of our staff and patrons.
2) Continue serving your library needs as the situation allows.
3) Plan ahead for changing circumstances.

SAFETY GUIDELINES
Hedberg Public Library will be operating in accordance with Rock County and City of Janesville safety guidelines.
To ensure the safety of patrons and provide a secure experience, library staff will:
- Limit occupancy to 50% capacity. According to established guidelines based on square footage, that allows us to serve 300 patrons at any given time.
- Wear a face mask. Staff will be required to wear masks while at work and in all common areas.
- Maintain social distancing. Staff will remain 6 feet from patrons at all times.
- Limit staff assistance. A service desk is available, but access to staff is limited.
- Remove toys and collaborative activities. Puzzles, games and other toys are unavailable.
- Limit seating and computers to allow for adequate spacing. Furniture and technology are arranged to provide adequate space between seating options.
To ensure the safety of staff and those visiting the library, patrons must:
- Wear a face mask. A mask is required upon entry and must be worn the duration of your library visit. If you need a mask, the library will provide one.
-
Wash or sanitize hands as often as possible. Hand sanitizer is available.
-
Maintain social distancing. Keep 6 feet from you and others at all times. Furniture may not be moved.
-
Stay home if you are feeling sick. Those experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should not visit the library and should contact their healthcare provider. Patrons may be asked to leave if they are exhibiting symptoms.
-
Conduct your business quickly. Treat your visit to the library as you would a trip to the grocery store. As hard as it is, we are not encouraging collaboration, conversation or lingering in the library at this time.
-
Pay fines and fees online or at Self-Check machines.
-
Use Self-Check machines to check out materials. Staff is available to assist if needed.
