Students in grades 6-12 have an opportunity to practice efficiency, promptness, self-confidence, and patience, as well as to develop responsibility by becoming volunteers. As teens form new friendships and have fun, they also become more aware of the library as a valuable resource in their lives.
The mutual benefits are many. Teens learn job skills and develop a sense of community involvement. At the same time, they relieve library staff of some time-consuming tasks and enhance the library's commitment to friendly service.
Most volunteer opportunities are available during the summer. However, limited openings are available during the school year. Young adults who are interested in volunteering at the library can fill out an application at the Children's Desk or call 758-6585.
