Janesville Gazette Obituaries at Hedberg Public Library
The Janesville Gazette newspaper. On microfilm, the library has the entire newspaper from 1845 to the present. The library keeps the newspaper in paper for the past three months. Unfortunately, obituary indexes to the newspaper are incomplete. Below are listed the indexes we do have:
Obituary Index - August 26, 1845 - 1907. Compiled by the Rock County Genealogical Society, this card file is located in The Janesville Room at Hedberg Public Library. Search by name to learn the date the obituary appeared in the paper, then find the obituary in the Janesville Gazette microfilm.
Death Index - Compiled by Hedberg Public Library staff, an index to death notices and obituaries in The Janesville Gazette from January 1993 to the present. Search this database to find the date and page number of the issue with the obituary, then go to the microfilm to make a copy for a fee. We are working to include earlier dates.

Vital Records Services or the courthouse in the county in which the death took place to request a Death Certificate. Using the death date they supply, you can search for an obituary in the Janesville Gazette.
