Read them in order - pick one at random. These books are so great, it really doesn't matter! But you certainly don't want to miss one, right? So here's a (fairly) comprehesive list for a few favorite series (and remember, if your favorite isn't listed, you can search RockCat for the titles!)
The Boxcar Children
Henry, Jessie, Violet and Benny, four orphaned brothers and sisters, suddenly appear in a small town. No one knows who these young wanderers are or where they have come from. Frightened to live with a grandfather they have never met, the children make a home for themselves in an abandoned red boxcar they discover in the woods. Henry, the oldest, goes to town to earn money and buy food and supplies. Ambitious and resourceful, the plucky children make a happy life for themselves-until Violet gets too sick for her brothers and sister to care for her.
The Chronicles of Narnia
Four children travel to a world in which they are far more than mere children and everything is far more than it seems. Richly told, and perfectly realized in detail of world and pacing of plot, the story is infused with the timeless issues of good and evil, faith and hope.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
An exciting new series begins. Greg Heffley is thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. The hazards of growing up are uniquely revealed through words and drawings as Greg records them in his diary.
