10 Women The Janesville branch of the AAUW was founded in 1923. In2206, it was meeting on the fourth Tuesday of the month, September through May, at the Women's Club, 108 S. Jackson Street. Tne monthly branch meetings consist of a brief business meeting and aprogram focusing on an issue of concern to AAUW members. The branch organizes special interest groups for its members to provide opportunities for interaction and education. The Janesville branch holds a used book sale in the spring of each year and uses the money for college scholarships. The AAUW (American Association of University Women) itself is a national organization that was founded in 1881 as a network of women decided to opening the doors of higher education to more women and to uniting "alumnae of different institutions for practical educational work."
