JM4C Overdose Prevention Training

Presented by the Rock Prairie Master Gardener Association. Learn the fine points of starting seeds at home with help from a team of Master Gardener volunteers. Starting seeds for your garden is less expensive than buying nursery grown sets and often gives you more choices.  It's also easy and highly rewarding. Discover how to choose the appropriate plants, assemble and use the proper equipment and test seed viability prior to planting. Participants will also gain some hands on experience with starter kits they can take home. Part of our Local Experts program series

Joyce Westerman and the All American Girls Professional Baseball League: Play Ball

Presented by professional storyteller and author, Bob Kann. Hear the tale of Kenosha native Joyce Westerman who played for eight years in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League - depicted in the movie A League of Their Own - and helped change the perception that sports are too tough for women. Learn about Joyce's experiences in the league, struggles during the Depression, and challenges working at American Motors when women were not welcome in the work force. Joyce's "can do" attitude in sports and life serve as an inspiration. Part of our Local Experts program series.

Bob Kann is a Professor of Education, professional storyteller/juggler/magician, and author of approximately 25 books and manuals for children and adults. He has written six "Badger Biographies" published by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press, including Joyce Westerman: Baseball Hero.

In 1954, teenagers Juliet Hulme--better known as bestselling mystery writer Anne Perry--and Pauline Parker went for a walk in a New Zealand park with Pauline's mother, Honora. Half an hour later, the girls returned alone, claiming there had been an accident.
